Ownership of idea and software

So if I read this correctly, ETS is granted ownership of anything we create for this project?

--
From rules:
The Grand Prize Winner(s) grants to ETS a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, world-wide license to exploit, reproduce, display, adapt and otherwise use, all intellectual property in the Project, including the ideas and concepts embodied in, or related to the Project for any purpose and in any and all media, now known or hereafter invented without any further compensation (other than the Grand Prize).

If true, that's unfortunate and a non-starter for our team.

I agree some clarification is needed before we can move forward as well. There seems to be some conflicting statements. From the FAQ

    (5) Q: Do I retain my Intellectual Property?

A: Yes, you will retain ownership of your Intellectual Property, including your project and submission, regardless of whether you win a prize or not. You will not be asked to share your source code with anyone at ETS nor any of the judges.

    My thoughts are:
    > Todays youths are texting every 15 minutes somewhere in USA. We should develop a text for the IPADs or phones for students to answer one math and science question per day before they can text any messages.

ETS will be granted a license to use the app and submission, but we won't own it. The individual or team will retain ownership and are not restricted in any way (for example, you could still license it, sell it, do with it as you wish). ETS will also not ask you for your source code.

We at ETS are running this challenge to advance the field by helping to solve a pressing design problem (how to combine game design and assessment design constraints meaningfully) and to showcase your solutions. We'd also like to meet new people with new ideas (you).
